The Founder

KHÔRA is a registered Portuguese brand of natural personal hygiene and body care products, handmade on the island of Madeira.

We are small, certified artisans, local, conscious, and proud of our place in the world. This is what we want to see in the world: small projects, with real people behind them, sharing their dreams in a local and socially just way, creating diversity, and focused on cooperation as a way of being in the world.

Trust and quality are our priority, which is why our products are prepared in a laboratory certified by the Regional Service of Industry with all the required scientific rigor. All products are tested in SGS laboratories and inspected by the competent national (INFARMED) and European (CPNP) authorities. My background in Biology has been a valuable asset to KHÔRA products, which were conceived and formulated with knowledge of the properties and interactions of plants and natural ingredients in our bodies.Cada produto é pensado para fornecer um cuidado natural e amoroso para nós própri@s, para os nossos corpos, a nossa primeira casa, e com o menor impacto possível na terra, a nossa segunda casa.

That's why we choose high-quality, preferably organic, biodegradable natural ingredients. The packaging has also been designed to minimize our impact on nature, being reusable, recyclable, and some even compostable. We have a contract with Sociedade Ponto Verde, which promotes the selective collection, recovery, and recycling of packaging in Portugal.

I am a person with a strong connection to nature and the earth, and with a conscious attitude of self-sufficiency and sustainability. My path has always been in this direction; with a degree in Biology from the Complutense University of Madrid and a master's degree in Environmental Education and Sustainable Development, I began to discover my passion for the earth through gardening and Permaculture. My first major project was in this sense: organic farming, permaculture, regenerative agriculture, and environmental education focused on self-sufficiency. At the same time, yoga appeared in my life and changed it, changed me. These experiences, and especially the people who participated in them, were part of my first rebirth, the restart of the journey.

But life always has unexpected opportunities for us to continue our journey, and then came motherhood, an island, the pandemic, and a second rebirth in which this latest project of mine appeared, a project about conscious and sustainable hygiene and body care.

It has been a slow, step-by-step process of gaining trust, thanks to the support of family and friends, without whom the KHÔRA brand would not have seen the light.

I was born with seeds in my pocket, and throughout my life I will continue scattering them across the earth, for little by little they will find their place and a new vision, in connection with our essence, will emerge.

The KHÔRA´s TEAM

Thinking about ourselves without thinking about the earth is impossible for us. KHÔRA products strive to care for the earth as much as possible, purchasing certified raw materials from sustainable and organic agriculture whenever possible, as well as minimizing the impact of using these products by choosing only biodegradable natural ingredients that the earth can assimilate.

Packaging and what we do with it is also a concern and a responsibility of ours. On the one hand, we choose packaging and containers compatible with our formulations, and on the other hand, our priority is to reduce our environmental footprint. To that end, we have decided to reduce our packaging as much as possible, using secondary and tertiary packaging only when essential. In terms of packaging, our policy is reuse, reduce, and recycle.

But once again, I think that having reached this point, we must act for the future; it is not enough to minimize our impact, we must regenerate! That is why we are seeking partnerships with non-profit organizations whose objectives focus on reforestation and environmental education in Portugal.
